Electrical work in Evanston
Evanston is a newer community, built from the mid-2000s onward, and the electrical work here looks different from the older parts of North Calgary as a result.
Very little of what we do in Evanston is repair. The services are modern, the panels are relatively young, and the wiring is copper throughout. What people call us for instead is everything the builder didn’t include.
Builder-grade electrical is specified to meet code and a budget, not to anticipate how a family will actually use the house ten years in. So the pattern here is additions:
- EV chargers, in a community with a lot of newer vehicles and garages that were roughed in for very little
- Basement development — Evanston hit the age where basements get finished, and it’s happening across the community now
- Hot tub and air conditioning circuits
- Lighting, because builder lighting packages are consistently the first thing owners want to change
- Additional outlets and dedicated circuits for home offices, which arrived in this community faster than the wiring anticipated
The capacity question still applies
Newer doesn’t automatically mean unlimited. Plenty of homes here were built with 100-amp services, and a finished basement plus a hot tub plus a charger will find that ceiling. We do the load calculation before quoting a charger, not after installing one.
